Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions, Straight Answers

Here are a few of the questions I hear most often. If you don’t see your question answered here, feel free to reach out through the contact form or message me on Facebook — I’m always happy to clarify.

Why are you running?

Because I believe taxpayers deserve clear, fair, and accountable assessments — and I want to help restore confidence in the process.

What qualifies you to run for assessor?

By election time, I’ll have earned my Nebraska Assessor Certification and met all state legal requirements to serve. I’ve also spent the past year studying statutes, regulations, and appraisal practices so I can be fully prepared to do the job on day one.

Are you running as a Democrat or Republican?

I’m running as an Independent because the county assessor’s job isn’t political — it’s administrative. It’s a professional role that requires fairness, consistency, and adherence to the law, not party ideology.

While I’ve been a registered Republican my entire life, I’ve always voted based on principle, not party — and I believe this office should be held to the same standard.

What does the county assessor actually do?

The assessor is responsible for valuing all real property in the county for tax purposes. That means making sure assessments are lawful, fair, and equalized across neighborhoods, towns, and property types — so that no one pays more or less than their share.

How would you be different from the current assessor?

I believe in transparency, communication, and professional humility. I won’t dismiss questions, delay records, or blame others. My job is to make the system work better — not to defend it blindly.

Will property values go up or down if you’re elected?

No assessor controls the market. What I can control is how fairly and accurately we track those changes. I’ll use clear models, follow the law, and make sure taxpayers understand where their numbers come from.

What’s your stance on protests and appeals?

They’re a right, not a nuisance. I’ll make sure the protest process is accessible, deadlines are respected, and that property owners receive timely, respectful responses — even if we don’t always agree.

A protest is what got me here.

Do you have ties to any real estate or appraisal companies?

No. I don’t work for — and won’t favor — any developer, realtor, lender, or political group. I’m running as a citizen, not a career insider.
